Goede Doelen Nederland is the branch association of registered charities in the Netherlands. Jan van Berkel succeeds Jan Jaap de Graeff, who announced his resignation from the position earlier this year.

Jan van Berkel co-founded Goede Doelen Nederland in 1995 and has been a member of the board of the organisation since 2012. Commenting on his election, Jan van Berkel said: ‘It is both an honour and a challenge to have the opportunity to contribute to further bolstering the professional association in my new role as Chair. I see repositioning the branch association and the sector it represents as a worthy task. We need a shift of emphasis. From positioning the sector based on key figures, codes and guidelines to a sharper focus on the major social significance and impact of charities. As the new Chair, I am also looking forward to actively contributing to the continued development of Goede Doelen Nederland as a “home for registered charities”.’

Goede Doelen Nederland is the branch association of registered Dutch charities. Over 140 charities are currently affiliated with the association. These organizations are active in a range of sectors, both in the Netherlands and abroad. The sectors range from healthcare to international aid, and from culture to animal rights.
